Broadway Musicals and Dramas in Manhattan

The Broadway area in Manhattan is one of the most renowned and highly respected theatre communities in the world. Alongside with the West End theatres in London, these 2 districts rule the Western World’s theatre landscape.

Most of the people who go to Big apple involve attendance at one of the Broadway plays an necessary part of their agenda. And while there have been several of the standard great productions that run for decades and continually draw audiences from around the globe, there are additionally new and innovative works being created all the time.

This ensures that there will be something onstage at any given evening that will please all theatre fans.

The Majestic Theatre in New York continues to host the Tony Award winning production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera.

There are some names that have come to symbolize both Broadway and the London theatre scene and Webber, if not the only one, is unquestionably one of those. Phantom has been seen by more audiences from around the world than almost any other singular stage event.

This unforgettable story of love and romance has been captivating and enthralling audiences for the reason that it opened in New York in January of 1988. It really is still receiving strong support and getting huge audiences and shows no sign of slowing down.

Promises Promises is at present in previews at the Broadway Theatre and represents another popular tradition in New York, which is to revive previous shows.

This musical is based on a film written by Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond, which opened in 1960. The musical was composed by Burt Bacharach with lyrics by Hal David and book by Neil Simon.

It originally opened on Broadway in 1968 and ran for 1281 performances. The current production is scheduled to open on April 25. It stars Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth. Rob Ashford both directed and choreographed this production.

A View From the Bridge, by Arthur Miller is getting ready to finish its run at the Cort Theatre on 48t Street.

This represents Broadway’s strong tradition of producing a few of the furthermost dramas and comedies in addition to the hit musicals for which it is known. Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson star in this production that was directed by Gregory Moscher.

The play takes on a number of dark themes and is one of the most gripping plays that Miller wrote. This is true though the events that are destined to unfold in its story are pretty well known by the audience almost from the embark.

Moving Out

But Billy Joel has written a number of songs that revolve around interesting characters, like Piano Man.

One of my all time favorite songs is Anthony’s Song by Billy Joel.

Many people know the song as Moving Out because that is the crux of our song. The song centers on Anthony who is the speaker in our lyrics.

I loved the song Moving Out even before I understood our lyrics and when I did finally realize the meaning of Moving Out, it became almost a theme song of mine.

The song Moving Out was going through my mind after I broke up with my fiancée years ago. He and I had different views on what is important in life. He was very materialistic and that became a problem in our relationship.

Things became very important to both of us. We needed our nicest clothes. We had to have the trendiest furniture in our way too expensive apartment and we leased our most popular cars every double years. Billy Joel’s Moving Out helped me work through our painful break up.

Our song Moving Out reflects Billy Joel’s magnificent talent as a musician and as a writer.

Moving Out tells a story about a man who realizes that there is more to life than material possessions. Many people work themselves into early graves just trying to get bigger and better things, like the Sergeant O’Leary character in our song Moving Out.

He works double jobs and trades in his old car for a Cadillac that he can’t even drive because he breaks his back working.

It is no wonder to me that Moving Out was chosen to be our title of our Broadway musical based on Billy Joel’s music. The characters in Moving Out alone could be the center of an entire play.

But Billy Joel has written a number of songs that revolve around interesting characters, like Piano Man.

The Broadway show is now on tour across the United States and in Japan.

I am eager to attend a performance of Moving Out, and I’ve been following the cities and dates through Google. The cities and dates include performances of Moving Out across our country.

Unfortunately, my city is not on the list yet. Hopefully, our show will visit my area.

I am going to check through a Google search every so often to see if Moving Out comes to the Pittsburgh area. I would even drive to Cleveland to see a performance of our show.

Hey if not It’s back on the train to New York City.

Paris Hilton is one of America’s most famous women today.

She is most well known for her frequent appearances on television, including shows of her own such as Fox’s hit reality series ‘The Simple Life’, and for her reputation as a partier. An actor, model, singer and heiress to the Hilton Hotel fortune, Paris Hilton has become a household name throughout America.

Parish Whitney Hilton was born on February 17, 1981 in New York City to Richard and Kathy Hilton. She is the oldest of four children, next in line being her younger sister Nicky, followed by her brothers Barron and Conrad.

Paris Hilton grew up living in a few different affluent homes, including one in the Hamptons, one in Beverley Hills, and a suite in Manhattan’s Waldorf-Asotria Hotel. She attended a high school in New York but eventually dropped out, going on to earn her GED instead.

Opting not to go on to college, Paris instead began working as a fashion model for Catherine Maladrino and Marc Bouer in an advertising campaign for an Italian label. She also had several brief appearances in movies, such as Zoolander and The Cat in the Hat.

Though already a well-known name, it was a sex video staring her and her friend Rick Salomon that really began Paris’s rise to the celebrity status she holds today. The video leaked out onto the Internet and Paris Hilton’s fame skyrocketed.

Salomon went on to release the video on DVD, only to be sued by Paris shortly thereafter. The suit was resolved with Paris receiving a substantial cash settlement and a portion of the DVD’s profits.

Her newly found fame landed her a number of supporting parts in movies, commercials, and television shows including the aforementioned ‘The Simple Life’ series shown on Fox.

Her fame has also found her rising criticism, and she was even negatively parodied on a ‘South Park’ episode. Her status as a celebrity and her effect as a role model for American girls is an almost controversial issue all on its own; she is widely discussed on tabloids and in magazines, and more than likely will be for some time to come.

In spite of criticism, or perhaps because of it, Paris Hilton is a popular icon in America today. She has her own line of jewelry, her own record label, and is releasing her first album shortly.

Now styling herself as an entrepreneur, only time will tell if her business ventures meet with as much success as her acting and modeling career has.

It is not an actor’s function to “feel” per se, but to make his audiences feel that which he wants transmitted to them. He can show anger without being angry.

Henry Fonda’s polarity is exemplified by his equal effectiveness in portrayals of laughable comedy and emotional depth. Tallulah Bankhead’s dramatic power and comedic punch proclaim her polarity.

There are two reasons an actor must have polarity, or opposites, in his emotional scale, even when playing a role that does not call for obvious contrasts of emotional expression.
Polarity is the basis of dramatic conflict. The skillful use of contrasting extremes in the emotional scale enables an actor to project these extremes with authority while not actually experiencing them himself.

It is not an actor’s function to “feel” per se, but to make his audiences feel that which he wants transmitted to them. He can show anger without being angry.

He can depict love without being in love with his leading lady. He can portray pride without being in love with himself. To clinch the argument, an actor need not die to play a death scene convincingly. By using his well-developed and thoroughly trained poles of feeling, he can play on the emotions of his audiences and make them feel they have seen someone die.
What does balance mean in this context?

By balance I mean the ability to equalize and to compensate. By offsetting one factor against another, an actor establishes equality and achieves symmetry, or balanced form. Through symmetry he gains poise. Balance is a key word to poise for an actor.
Perfect balance between the desire to express and the ability to express contributes to poise. This balance between the desire and the ability to express any given idea or emotion can be achieved by correct knowledge and use of technical tools.

You should know that the late, internationally famed authority, Constantine Stanislavsky, in his book An Actor Prepares, points out the necessity for an unusually well trained and responsive vocal and physical apparatus. The vocal and physical requirements are either suggested or actually dictated, of course, by the mind.

So there you have a restatement of my declaration that acting must be based on three primary elements.

The VOICE, the BODY, and the MIND.

This is an unchangeable fact for you to remember always. Thorough training of voice, body and mind requires work. Start this training by meeting your first problems with enthusiasm and vitality.
What are those first problems?
They’re really quite simple things like how to stand and sit and walk how to exercise your face and eyes.

What has all this to do with acting?

It has a great deal to do with acting. If you’re physical apparatus is flexible, alert and well enough controlled to obey the commands of your mind, your body will be able to do its part in projecting thoughts and emotions with or without dialogue. Basic parts that add up to the sum total of the science underlying the art of acting the technique.
Craftsmanship mechanics know-how is what acting is all about.

Get A Complete Step-by-step System For Preparing An Acting Role. This Revolutionary New Technique Teaches You How To Take Your Brand-new Script And Create A Complex, Interesting Character In The Shortest Possible Time. Click Here to get full details NOW!

There are a couple of things every actor should know about auditioning. The Main tool besides their body of an actor is their voice.

Get involved as much as you can in live performing to discover how your character ingredients come across to others. The deeper you go with a character the more believable the experience becomes for both the audience and yourself.

Since ancient times men and women have practiced the art of acting- playing the role of a character in a story, for the entertainment of an audience.

Acting schools are the perfect forum to enhance and embrace people who have what it takes to become an actor/actress. Many acting schools have differing programs that allows the student both choice and flexibility when choosing the class to suit their requirements.

Acting Schools can be found in many fine arts departments in colleges and universities across the country.

Four-year degrees through intensive professional study in Acting Schools are common, however, some specialized acting schools provide programs that last just weeks.

People who are just getting into the acting business have quite a few misconceptions about how the casting process works. Many agents and casting directors go to these small theaters looking for talent.

By definition an agent is someone who finds work for an actor at a fee of about 10 to 15% of whatever he earns for that job. In getting the audition in the first place, you or your agent are going to have to submit a photo and resume to the casting director.

Understanding these issues will make it much easier for you to decide which agent best fits your ambitions and talents. Research is the key to finding an agent that suits your needs.

Yes sometimes the casting agent will have them there for you but why rely on them to determine you success. Take some classes, work on some student projects and then keep knocking till you find an acting agent that is genuine.

Before you leave your home, make sure you have your headshot/resume neatly stapled together, the address and a map of where the audition is, and the phone number of the auditors in case you get lost. If you’re young, audition for some graduate or undergraduate programs even if you probably wouldn’t go.

Good acoustics were designed into theater halls to help performers to be heard differently and to have more subtle and natural reflections.
